STUDENT READING TIPS

Choose Books to Read that you LOVE

Picture

Books are exciting and can take us to many new places without ever leaving our homes! What are you interested in reading or learning about? Sharks? There are many amazing books about sharks! Are you interested in traveling to new places like the beach or a new planet? Books can take you there. Funny babysitting stories? Mysteries?Romance? Baby animals? There are books! Funny cartoons? Many books - one of my children loved Garfield and read every book our library had! Reading about things that interest you helps to engage you and can take you to many exciting places! The more you read, the more words you learn and know, and the more you succeed!

Read on Your Correct Level

One way to know you are reading a book that is perfect for you is knowing all the words in the book and only missing or not knowing one word
in every 20 that you read. If there are too many unknown words, reading becomes discouraging, hard, and frustrating. If you really want to read a book that is too hard for you to read on your own, please listen to it on audiobook or cd! You will love hearing it out loud and will learn so many new and exciting vocabulary words that will build your listening comprehension skills.
